We're stoked about the news that Nintendo is releasing a modernized version of the classic NES gaming system. Although the old game cartridges won't work in the new system, they don't need to collect dust. You can follow the tutorial below from Inspire to Make and transform your game cartridges—in this case a Super Mario World game for Super Nintendo—into a cool case for an SSD hard drive.

You'll need to open the game cartridge which may require fabricating a special screw using a file. Once you've pulled the cartridge apart you can remove the old circuitry and then start filing down the plastic inserts to make room for your new SSD drive and SATA to USB adapter.

When you have carved out enough room inside the cartridge to fit the drive and filed down a space for the USB plug, you simply screw the enclosure shut. You'll have the coolest piece of retro tech anywhere.
